city maps

I love city maps. They make you daydream about cities you've never visited and even discover new places in your own city. I ordered these city maps at Lagom Design. They are actually gift wraps, but I decided to use them as posters instead. So my walls are now covered with the streets of Berlin, Paris, London and New York. The first three I visited in the last years, and I've been dreaming of New York for years now, hopefully we'll get there soon!

ps.  I have a secret love for all the streets, towns and counties that are called Lafayette, just because my name is in it :)

RAW tempel

One of the places in Berlin that impressed me the most is Raw tempel. At Raw tempel you can find all sorts of alternative culture, like a climbing wall, skatepark, concert stage and a vegetarian restaurant. You can see that the area used to be an old railway maintenance yard, as the tracks are still there. All the buildings are covered in graffiti, and the buildings that are not being used are totally worn out.

When we visited the place, we were the only people there, what made it even more impressive and bizarre. I think that in summer this is the place to be in Berlin, and for now it was awesome to take some photos.

berlin bliss

My husband suprised me with a honeymoon to Berlin! At first we had planned to travel in the summer, but Willem Jan secretly booked a citytrip to Berlin right after the wedding. I wanted to visit the city for such a long time, so it was such a sweet suprise of him.

Every day we visited a different district of the city. The city's landscape is so various and every area has it's own character. It was almost like we visited five different cities instead of one. Some areas are quite chic, with broad avenues and impressive architecture, while others are raw, with lots of graffiti, worn out buildings and a creative vibe. In all of the city you can find boutiques with lovely treasures, small coffeeshops with kaffee und kuchen, and lots of restaurants. So that's what we did that week: drinking lots of coffee and hot chocolate, eating too much cheesecake and brownies and going out for lunch and dinner every day. And if you are planning to visit Berlin, stay at the Michelberger Hotel, it is such a fun and creative hotel, and the staff is very friendly.

wedding guests

My sister offered to photograph all the guests at our wedding. We made an umbrella covered with paper pompoms as photo backdrop. Now we have an album full with colourful pictures of everybody who was there that day, such an lovely and precious memory.

happiest day of my life

Apparently, I found something really funny :)

You guys, we got married!! On 22-2 we celebrated our love and said yes to sharing our lives together. It was such a beautiful day, being surrounded by all our family and friends. The ceremony was at the city hall and later that day we had a party with home made food and lots of dancing (my favourites :).
